Judge Denies Emmis Injunction In Big Boy Suit

After a hearing held this afternoon, the Los Angeles County Superior Court has denied Emmis Radio a preliminary injunction to prevent longtime KPWR (Power 106)/Los Angeles morning personality Kurt “Big Boy” Alexander from commencing employment at iHeartMedia Urban competitor KRRL (Real 92.3) until completion of trial in the matter.

Back on Feb. 10, the Court had granted Emmis a temporary restraining order that was valid until today’s hearing. The ruling stems from a breach of contract suit (“Emmis Radio, LLC v. Kurt Alexander, a/k/a “Big Boy”) in which Emmis is seeking millions of dollars in damages. In response to the ruling, Emmis issued the following statement, which read, “While Emmis is disappointed with the Court’s ruling and will evaluate our legal options, we are pleased with the Court’s indication that damages are an available remedy at trial. Emmis remains resolute in continuing to protect our legal rights and committed to the continued success of Power 106.”
