Early Monday The Urban Buzz received confirmation that WEDR-Miami’s 99 Jamz Program Director Derek Baker has exited the building after 20 years of working his way up through the ranks under the mentorship of longtime former GM, Jerry Rushin. In other CMG news, Charles Mitchell, APD for WALR (Kiss 104) and Quiet Storm host has also exited the building. WALR’s night-time daypart is rumored to be voice tracked. Sources say the company may be reducing expenses in preparation to acquire additional radio real estate. We wish Derek and Charles the best in the next phase of their new journeys. Here’s an update to the story: Jill Strada COX MEDIA GROUP/Miami has promoted Jill Strada to Director/Branding and Programming for Urban WEDR (99 JAMZ) and Top 40 WFLC (HITS 97.3).
