Famed Singer Doris Hines Dies

The Urban Buzz sends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fans of internationally renowned singer Doris Hines who died on Friday, August 14th, at age 91. Ms. Hines performed all over the world, across America and throughout the Twin Cities and Minnesota with such artists as Nat King Cole, Pearl Bailey, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Della Reese, Dinah Washington, Maya Angelou and Duke Ellington. Doris won The Arthur Godfrey Talent Show which was the American Idol of its day! She recorded with The Grammy Award-winning Sounds of Blackness and was a favorite singer of Vice-Pres. Hubert Humphrey.
