This year’s FYF Festival went off with a bang on its opening Saturday. Performances were made by an array of eclectic artists at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. PALM caught sets from Kaytranada, Chet Faker, Run the Jewels, Flying Lotus, Bloc Party, and his “yeezynus”, Mr. Kanye West.
Day one of the festival was spectacular. Run the Jewels put on a comical performance playing off their sophomore album Run the Jewels 2. They even brought out the legendary gangsta boo of Three 6 Mafia.
Flying Lotus’ DJ set inside the arena was dope, and included his work as Captain Murphy.
Unfortunately Bloc Party gave a rather disappointing set, performing practically entirely “non-hit” material.
Although a short set, Kanye West’s was exceptional. He performed a variety of material from recent years, along with numbers from The College Dropout.
