Alonzo “Lonzo” Williams character was portrayed by actor Corey Reynolds as the club owner, in the blockbuster, hit film “Straight Outta Compton”, announced the publication “N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo”.

If you have seen “Straight Outta Compton,” or heard about it, you are still missing the FULL Story on West Coast Hip-Hip.  To get the full story, one will need to hear it from the Godfather, Lonzo.  Williams, founder of World Class Wreckin’ Cru, one of the first West Coast rap groups to do a major tour.  Members included Dr. Dre, who Lonzo discovered when he let Dre into his club one night and he made his way up to the DJ Booth.  Lonzo, a club promoter then and now, saw there was something special and made Dre apart of World Class.  Among World Class’ hits was the classic record “Before You Turn Off the Lights.”  Other World Class members were DJ Yella, who went on with Dre to be a part of NWA and Michel’le who ultimately had a solo career, often produced by Dre.

Lonzo founded Kru Cut Records, whose acts included World Class, Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, and signed a 15-year-old Ice Cube at that time.  He was also the person that aspiring rap entrepreneur named Eric “Eazy-E” Wright consulted about starting his own label. In fact, it was Lonzo who put Eazy and Jerry Heller together.

The ‘tell all’ book “N.ot W.ithout A.lonzo” tells the old stories about Ice Cube and Dr. Dre and how they became Hip-Hop Legends, as well as crossed over into great success in other areas.

His book describes gripping stories that the film “Straight Outta Compton” did not include and will tell the reader where Hip Hop is going just by breaking down where it’s truly been like only Lonzo can.
