Beyoncé is putting her money where her heart is. The Houston native has donated $7 million on a low-income housing project in her hometown. Pastor Rudy Rasmus of St. John’s United Methodist Church (where Bey used to sing as a child) said that the singer has donated millions over the years to help Houston’s homeless. Her biggest contribution is a 43-unit apartment complex, which has been named Knowles-Temenos Place, that offers housing to low-income and homeless individuals.

“She has a global platform and is doing some amazing work and I’m glad she’s a friend of mine,” he continued.

In June, she donated half a million dollars to Chime for Change, an organization focused on inspiring young women worldwide and helping them find their voices by sharing the stories of other strong women.
