Music Service BOOMiO Goes Bust admin November 17, 2015 Music News In January 2015, BOOMiO joined the social music space, claiming to have an edge over many in the overcrowded music and social sharing arena due to their procuring support from labels. BOOMiO’s “M.O.” enabled users search for a track to share and listen to, then receive a prompt at the end to either re-share for another play or to buy the song on iTunes. The shares can go to an individual, to a group chat, or to a social network. To further engage interest from the performer side, BOOMiO offered a Verified Artist program that supplies custom metrics about shares, plays, and listener demographics. BOOMiO executives offered the service for artists and labels with new ways to connect with fans and deliver an experience around the content they’ve created. Earlier this year, BOOMiO Co-founder /EVP Bob Case boasted, “Combining promotion and revenue with an experience that fans love is like the Holy Grail, and we’re excited to see artists and labels responding to us as positively as they are.” BOOMiO’s balloon went bust almighty when the service announced that it had suddenly shut down its music service. The manner in which they did so was reminiscent of ending a relationship via technology by mass emailing users. BOOMiO claims the shutdown will allow them to rethink the product and return with the promise of “a fresh BOOMiO experience.” The wave of music services that are going down like the Titanic now include Tapely, Bop.fm and the much hyped Beats Music. How many more services will ride the (Tidal) wave or sink like mobster dumped in the river????….wait for it!!!! Related
