Kobalt, the leading independent music publishing and global music rights management services company has hired Sam Taylor as SVP, Creative. In this new role, Taylor will sign new and established talent and identify publishing partners. He will also contribute to the management of tSam Taylorhe creative roster. He will report directly to Sas Metcalfe, Global President of Creative and Sue Drew, GM of Creative and Acquisitions. Metcalfe commented, “I am delighted that Sam has joined our worldwide creative team based in our L.A. office. His publishing track record speaks for itself, and I’m sure our roster of writers, publishers, and artists will benefit from his knowledge and experience.”

Taylor got his start in the A&R department at Elektra Records. He has worked at Atlantic Records, Warner/Chappell Music Publishing and most recently at Sony/ATV and EMI where he signed and worked with Pharrell Williams, Schoolboy Q, Sounwave, FKi, Dahi, Sam Dew and many others. He was also the catalyst for putting together the Grammy-nominated Song of the Year, “Alright,” by Kendrick Lamar (produced by Pharrell and Sounwave).
