Its tough breaking into the music business, and it’s even tougher as a teenager. Since October 2005, Jr. Music Executive (JME) has provided a competitive internship program, workshops, and networking events for students to receive a holistic view of the music industry and gain transferrable skills.  Applications frommotivated high school, college students, and recent college graduates for the 2016 JME internship program were accepted until Wednesday January 13, 2016.   JME welcomes students who are passionate and want to learn.

InternshipThe internship program provides students with hands on experience in project management, marketing, communications, promotions, and music business. Students are provided access to decision-making industry executives through guest speakers and field trips. “Often students and schools are focused on one aspect of the music industry; we help students gain a holistic understanding of the industry. We also teach them transferable skills such as project management, audience development, and budgeting that can be used in any number of careers and in life“, said Aisha Winfield, Founder and Executive Director of JME. Past interns have gone on to work at Sony Music Entertainment, the Recording Academy, Live Nation, Dreamchasers, and Big Bloc Entertainment. Some, such as Khemist, have released successful music projects; and others such as Carlton Lyles, have started their own brands.

Only 15 bright and eager students have been selected for the Winter/Spring term. The JME Internship Program is a great opportunity to get hands on experience and be exposed to what the music industry really is about. Orientation for the internship program will take place Wednesday February 10, 2016 and the official 2016 internship program launch will take place Wednesday February 17, 2016, 5:00PM at Cohesive Collection.
