Minnesota police are investigating the death of 57-year-old music mastermind Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, who was found unresponsive inside his Paisley Park studios.

Prince9Police responded to a call at the Chanhassen, Minnesota, studio around 9:43 a.m. Thursday and found Prince unresponsive inside an elevator, according to the Carver County Sherrif’s Office. First responders attempted CPR but were unable to revive him. Prince was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Prince was not feeling well after he canceled two concert dates at the Fox Theater in Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Prince would perform days later in the Georgia city, in a scaled-down version of his normal two- to three-hour-long performances. According to CNN, the singer sat at his piano, engulfed in lavender smoke and took audience members through many of his classic hits.

On April 15, after leaving the Atlanta show, Prince forced his private jet to make an emergency landing, TMZ reports. He was rushed to a hospital in Illinois. It was reported that the singer was suffering from the flu. He was released from the hospital and flew back to his Minnesota home. The next day, Prince made an impromptu appearance at a $10 dance party at Paisley Park where he told guests, “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers,” TMZ reports.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of Prince’s death and no official cause of death has been released. TMZ reports that police do not suspect foul play.
