Prince Cremated in Private Service at Paisley Park

Prince Rogers Nelson’s body was cremated on Friday, hours after his body was released from the coroners office, according to several reports.

The Daily Mirror says that a source close to the late singer, who died on Thursday at age 57, said that Prince had ““very precise ideas” of how he wanted to be laid to rest, and that included very little fanfare.

“Throughout his life and following his Jehovah’s Witness faith, Prince made it clear to his family that if he ever were to be taken from us he wanted to die with dignity,” said a family friend. “He had very precise ideas about how he wanted his death to be handled and that didn’t involve a huge funeral but a quiet service.

“The world has his music instead. He wanted to simply disappear with no fuss, no drama, no fanfare. It was just his style.”

An intimate memorial service was in fact held on Saturday at the singer’s Paisley Park estate in suburban Minneapolis, and was attended by his family, close friends and musicians including Larry Graham and Sheila E. State troopers were on the scene to helped escort mourners inside.

There has been no official confirmation or comment on the final destination of the Purple One’s remains, nor has anyone provided details on funeral or memorial service arrangements. However Tyka Nelson’s husband apparently told a news outlet that a larger, public memorial is being planned.
