PoetCBS’s WPGC/Washington has named Poet Taylor as the station’s new midday host, beginning Monday, September 18. Poet started her radio career at Radio One Urban WERQ (92Q)/Baltimore after winning a station contest seeking to expand its talent roster. She went on to become a familiar family member at WPGC — in 2014 she was named Executive Producer of the Joe Clair Morning Show, and she was most recently the Segment Producer for Good Morning Washington on ABC-7 while continuing to do weekends on WPGC.
In making the announcement, Steve Davis, VP of Programming, CBS Radio Washington and PD of WPGC said, “I’m so excited that Poet will be taking over midday fulltime for WPGC 95.5. Poet has been an incredible advocate for WPGC in her part-time role. She is excellent on-air, understands social media and loves the DMV. I have no doubt she will be a great success in middays!”
Taylor commented, “I’m beyond blessed and super excited to be given the opportunity to bring #Edutainment to the DMV as the new midday host on WPGC 95.5. I look forward to continuing to build upon the WPGC brand, encouraging our listeners to embrace their greatness and giving back tenfold all that my #BaconBits have invested in me!” Taylor succeeds Sunni, who in June was elevated from middays to co-host of the Joe Clair Morning Show.
