Kirk Franklin’s The Rebel, The Soul & The Saint Tour  with co-headliner Ledisi and special guest PJ Morton stopped at the Microsoft Theater at LA Live over the weekend. And I must admit, I had never seen Kirk perform live and was quite entertained. As you know, Kirk doesn’t sing. He’s a front-man, he directs the band and the singers, plays the piano and he dances. With 20 years worth of hits under his belt, he has good reason to dance… and he throws down!

The Rebel, The Soul & The Saint Tour is not your typical contemporary gospel concert. It combines Kirk’s hip hop influenced gospel and Ledisi’s soulful stylings. (I believe Ledisi is one of the best R&B singers working today!) Kirk called the concert an experiment. The audience loved the mix of music and performances and all three acts share the stage during portions of the show.

Ledisi4“This tour is non-traditional on purpose,” commented Ledisi. “The goal is to not alienate anyone, bringing all people together and to perform music that inspires and reflect the human experience. This is an event for music as a whole. That is why it is called ‘The Rebel, The Soul, and The Saint.'” She also goes on to say, “how awesome it is to see all these wonderful people on stage, fearlessly expressing life, spirit, and LOVE through music. I’m having a wonderful time on this tour with the great Kirk Franklin.”

kirkIn addition, Kirk Franklin says, “In this climate the world definitely needs to be reminded of the power of love. From God’s heart to the human touch, Ledisi and I are excited to bring the power of love to the people!”

If you get a chance, see Kirk and Ledisi’s The Rebel, The Soul & The Saint Tour. It’s entertaining, powerful and inspirational!
