Denise Smith began her Radio Broadcasting career in 1981 Los Angeles, California at KGFJ 1230 AM & KUTE FM she quickly became Promotions Director & Public Service Director after three years she produced both stations Public Service programing along with the community talk shows she had her own 30-minute talk show on the AM station as well. Later she worked many years for the Group Chairman of InnerCity Broadcasting Harold B. Jackson.

She later worked for the Famed Football Legend Willie Davis at KACE FM Radio for 4 years leaving to go work for Radio Icon Bill Shearer at the Station he purchased the New KGFJ and then working for another Icon Howard Neal.

She was also a part of the FUTURE BROADCASTING GROUP along with starting SMITH/GRAY & ASSOCIATES in Hollywood, a Promotions, Marketing & Public Relations Consulting Company, the company closed when she chose to take care of her terminally ill Mother full time until she passed away 5 years later. She was most passionate about the communities in which the Station(s) served and contributed to countless nonprofit organizations and foundations throughout Southern California.

She belonged to many organizations; Black Media Network, Black Women’s Forum, 100 Black Women, Sweet Alice Holiday Giveaway in Jordan Downs & Nickerson Projects (while at KACE), Volunteered for St. Vincent Hospital, Kedren Community Mental Health Center, Children’s Hospital, Martin Luther King Hospital Fundraising Committee, numerous other Church & Community organizations.

Presently she has Breast Cancer Stage 3A for the last 18 months she has been through a life changing experience and still has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Even through these hard times of her own she still finds ways to help and think of others.
