PRN AlumniRosie Gaines is a vocalist, song stylist and musician who came to the attention of the world when she joined and toured with Prince’s New Power Generation band in the early 90s.

Rosie’s first appearance with Prince was on his Graffiti Bridge album.  She also appeared in the film by the same name.  She collaborated with him when she co-wrote and sang on “Money Don’t Matter 2 Night” and “Push” on the first New Power Generation double platinum album “Diamonds & Pearls.”

Fans will long remember her live duet with Prince on “Nothing Compares 2 You.”  Rosie’s career, both prior to and post Prince, is a rich tapestry of collaboration and reinvention.  The youngest of ten children from Pittsburg, CA, Rosie is herself both a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who has released a number of albums independently.

In recent years, Rosie has suffered some health setbacks that have changed the course of her musical destiny.  The PRN Alumni Foundation is honoring her with a t-shirt, with original art, created by Paisley Park’s Steve Parke which will be sold on the PRN Alumni website.

“One of the principles of the PRN Alumni Foundation is to support alumni both financially while acknowledging their contributions to music,” stated Jacqui Thompson, president of the board.  “Our goal is to let Rosie know that her contributions to the music industry are not forgotten and that she is remembered.
