Radio One just announced that Karen Vaughn is making her triumphant return to a role where she previously enjoyed major success — she’s the newly named Operations Manager of Radio One Indianapolis, overseeing Urban AC WTLC, Rhythmic WHHH (Hot 96.3) and Inspirational WTLC-AM 1310 The Light). She succeeds Theodore “Big Bink” Turner, who recently left. This is very familiar territory for Ms. Vaughn, who previously held the same role until September 2016.
Vaughn returns to Indy from Philadelphia, where she has served as Operations Manager of the Radio One cluster since September 2016. In re-introducing Vaughn, Deon Levingston, GM/Regional Vice President, said, “Karen Vaughn is a seasoned programmer with an outstanding major market track record. We are look forward to having her back in Indianapolis after an amazing run in our Radio One Philadelphia market.”
Vaughn commented, “I am honored to return to Radio One Indianapolis, a cluster that is rich in heritage and anchored in excellence. To reunite with one of the most creative and hardworking teams is truly exciting and I’m enthusiastic to reconnect with listeners across the Circle City.”
Earlier in her career Vaughn was APD/middays at Cox Media Urban WHQT (Hot 105)/Miami and APD/middays at Radio One Urban AC WZAK/Cleveland until November 2011, when she was first introduced to Indianapolis, named PD of WTLC, and later added PD duties for WTLC-AM and WHHH.
