EbroEbro Darden, longtime morning personality on Emmis Hip-Hop headquarters WQHT (Hot 97)/New York and host on Apple Music’s Beats 1 has been appointed as Apple Music’s Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B. In this newly created role, Darden (left), who is accurately described in the press release as “a cultural authority and arbiter of taste in the hip hop and R&B community” will manage a team of Hip-Hop and R&B editors as they build out editorial plans for artists, albums and song releases.
With his own team and cross-functional teams Ebro will be plugged into the various music communities and seek out talent in the United States and around the world. He will also have a leadership role within the company to find ways to connect with urban music communities and beyond.
Darden joined Apple Music in 2015 as a host of Apple Music’s Beats 1 global livestream alongside Zane Loweand Julie Adenuga. He will continue to anchor that show Monday through Thursday from 3-5pm ET and will remain firmly ensconced as host of Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97, weekdays from 6-10am ET.
