His family has launched a Go Fund Me page to take care of hospital expenses. Dear Friends and Family. My family and I are deeply sadden by the recent passing of my father Anthony “Tony” Joseph. While I know him as being a wonderful, nurturing and loving Dad, many of you know him as a pioneering DJ and music producer. I’m so proud that my dad will go down in history as one of the principal architects who first fused hip hop and jazz together that meet with both huge worldwide commercial and critical success! His seminal Hidden Beach Recordings – “Unwrapped” Vol 1,2 & 3 featured an all-star collection of session musicians, including guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr., Patrice Rushen, Jeff Lorber, saxophonists Everette Harp, Mike Phillips, Lewis Taylor and violinist – Karen Briggs. “T.H.U.G. Jazz” and “Def Jazz” albums built upon that legacy and featured an all – star collection of solo artists that included Hubert Laws, Kevin Toney, Gerald Albright, Roy Hargrove, Ledisi and Joey DeFrancesco. My dad will be remembered as a gentle and caring soul who touched the lives of many including family, friends and fans. We are planning a “Celebration Of Tony’s Life” on Sunday February 17, 2019 and hope all will come out to pay tribute to my dad. As medical bills soared during his illness, my dad was hospitalized and unable to work. This has left our family emotionally and financially devastated. My mother and I need your help with the financial arrangements for my father’s Celebration of Life Memorial. Any remaining funds after our expenses will help me with the expense of attending college. I’m currently a college student with the goal of getting a Doctorate in the field of Zoology and Conservation. After the unexpected passing of my father, I want to succeed even more.
