Radio One Classic Hip Hop WPHI (Boom 103.9)/Philadelphia has promoted APD/midday personality Paris Nicole to Program Boom 103.9Director. The upgrade makes Ms. Nicole the youngest PD at Radio One. “Paris earned this promotion by stepping into a void at our station months before the position was created,” said Ezio Torres, Station Manager of Radio One Philadelphia. “From managing and scheduling the staff, to orchestrating Boom Class of 2019 flawlessly, she proved what we already knew — Paris Nicole is a natural leader. With that skill and her incredible relationships, she will take Boom 103.9 to… the next level™.”
Nicole is a native of Richmond, VA who got her first radio break as a 16-year-old intern at a local station. She went on to graduate from Hampton University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and joined Radio One’s WCDX (iPower 92.1/104.1)/Richmond as a part-timer in 2010. In 2015 she was awarded the midday show, and added APD stripes in December 2016. In June 2017 Nicole was awarded her major market upgrade when she transferred to Boom 103.9 as APD/midday personality.
VP of Programming Colby “Colb” Tyner said, “Paris took the reins of WPHI in the last six months, increased ratings, and pulled off a major event. She earned these stripes, and we are so proud of her.” VP of Programming Kashon Powell stated, “I’m ecstatic to have Paris take on this role. She’s demonstrated an unquestionable ability to lead the team and her passion for radio is incomparable. I have no doubt that her future is bright.”
Nicole remarked, “I’m truly honored and grateful for the opportunity. I’d like to thank Colby Tyner, Kashon Powell, Ezio Torres and the entire Radio One family for believing in me. Boom 103.9 has always done amazing things in Philadelphia, and I’m excited to lead our station to new heights! Boom is poised to represent the hip-hop and R&B culture as no other outlet can.”
