The Living Legends Foundation Inc. Salutes Black Radio for Black History Month

The Living Legends Foundation Inc. is saluting Black Radio with a viral series for Black History Month. The daily features will profile an air personality or executive speaking about the person who inspired them to embrace a career in radio. The series started February 3rd with Sheila Brown, owner of WUFO in Buffalo. Profiles include Pat Prescott, 94.7 The Wave LA; Brian Robinson, Power 98 WPEG Charlotte; Angelique Perrin, Cafe Mocha (syndicated); Derek Harper, Radio One Atlanta; Stormy Taylor, V101 Memphis; Wendy Williams, WCLK Atlanta; Kashon Powell, Radio One D.C.; Jon Mason, Kiss 105.9 Detroit; Vanessa James, Vanessa James Media; Adimu Colon, WDAS Philadelphia; Poet Taylor, WPGC, DC; Jamal Ahmad, WCLK Atlanta; Frankie Darcell, WDAS Philadelphia/WMXD Detroit and more.

The Living Legends Foundation Inc celebrates and recognizes executives behind the scenes of the music and radio industries through an annual Awards Dinner in October to raise funds to help their colleagues in their time of need. The 2020 dinner will be held on October 9th at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, CA. The A.D. Washington Scholarship Golf Tournament is held in Atlanta every April to support the scholarship fund. They provide scholarships at 3 HBCUS – Texas Southern, Clark Atlanta and Shaw – to mentor students interested in the business of music. The 2020 Golf Tournament will be held on April 4th at the Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club.

Since 2018, the Foundation has successfully run viral series for Black History Month and Black Music Month. For Black History Month 2019, the series “Preserving The Legacy” profiled the children of music industry veterans who were following in their parents’ footsteps. The Black Music Month series, “And The Beat Goes On…The Life Remix”, recognized music veterans who left the music industry, “remixed” their lives and are enjoying success in an entirely different industry.
