Tinashe – Black Water (Review)

Last week young alternative R&B princess Tinashe released a new project entitled Black Water. Her last project Reverie, which was released in 2012 had a couple jams on it. I initially got hooked on Tinashe from watching her video for the song “Boss.” Tinashe’s been growing a buzz in the industry over the past year. However, on Black Water the improvement is seen but not in the type of way that you’d want to see on her third project. If you enjoyed Drake’s Take Care back in 2011, Black Water would be a nice new mixtape to listen to. The songs I feel the most off of it would have to be “Just A Taste” because of it’s throwback sound and sample, along with “Midnight Sound.” I have to admit, when I first got hip to Tinashe I was blown away by her style and charisma, and I thought she was what the game needed. After hearing this ‘aight’ project from our girl, I wasn’t super impressed. I give Black Water a light 2/5 flies.
