Benny Pough

Benny Pough has been promoted to Executive Vice President for Epic Records, it was announced today by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Chairman/CEO, Epic Records. Previously serving as Executive Vice President, Urban Music, Mr. Pough’s role has expanded from managing the urban promotion strategies to supporting LA Reid in the day-to-day operations of the label. Additionally, Mr. Pough signed recording artists Future and Yo Gotti to the label, and he and his team quickly developed the rappers into flagship emerging talents. Under his helm, Epic’s urban roster includes successful promotions and marketing campaigns for Ciara and Tamar Braxton. Mr. Pough, who is based in New York, reports directly to Mr. Reid.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Pough said, “It’s been an extremely rewarding experience for me to be able to help shape the music and culture of an iconic label such as Epic Records. Under the tutelage of LA Reid, I look forward to much more success.”

 

Mr. Pough previously served as Senior Vice President, Urban Promotion, Island Def Jam Music Group, which he started in 2004 under the leadership of Mr. Reid, then CEO/Chairman of the label. He came to IDJ from a seven-year stint at MCA Records/Universal where he was Vice President of Promotion. Mr. Pough began his music industry career in 1990 as a regional promotions manager at Motown Records.

 

Throughout his illustrious music career, Mr. Pough has been instrumental in delivering radio hits and breaking superstar artists such as Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Justin Bieber, JAY Z, Young Jeezy, and Kanye West.
