WBLS has kicked off its 2nd Annual coat drive Spread the Warmth for New York Cares. WBLS will be collecting coats to help keep the citizens of New York City warm this winter season. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of New York Cares Coat Drive and the second year of their partnership with WBLS. Last year, WBLS collected hundreds of coats for New York Cares. As the economy has become more unpredictable, many individuals and families have to decide between their basic needs or coats to stay warm. We ask that listeners drop off clean and gently used warm coats. “Our number one goal at WBLS this holiday season is to ensure that we can support all New Yorkers in need. WBLS is known worldwide for its rich heritage and supports every borough throughout New York”, Sherise Malachi, Director of Promotions at WBLS says.

In the spirit of giving, WBLS has also partnered with Health Plus Amerigroup and Geico to help make this day a memorable one. The WBLS personalities will be broadcasting live throughout the day for a chance to win prizes, see some of the today’s biggest celebrities, and enjoy performances by local artists, including a tribute to Michael Jackson by the Trill. This will be a fun filled event with a purpose to support our efforts to help New York Cares collect as many coats as possible. It is free and open to the public.
