Lil Boosie to be released from prison.

A Maybach music record deal may be in the works for Baton Rouge Rapper Torrence Hatch aka Lil Boosie, who is slated to be released from the notorious Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola next week. Boosie is currently serving time for a third-offense marijuana possession and probation violation.

There has been a “Free Boosie,” grassroots campaign but Boosie’s date was expedited because of good behavior and completion of a substance abuse class. Boosie, who dropped out of high school, also got his GED while in prison. Upon his release, he will be on probation until 2018.

Boosie has reportedly written more than 600 songs and a book since being locked up in 2009. Plans are underway for a new CD and tour. Labels should be scrambling do do a deal. It would be a wise move since he has sold thousands of records and has a huge fan base. He has worked with the likes of the late Pimp C, Webbie, Young, Jeezy and DJ Khaled. He had previously inked deals with Trill Entertainment, Lava House, Universal and Warner Brothers. Boosie has his own label Bad Azz Entertainment.

In addition to pursing his music ventures, Boosie has plans to start a foundation to help children of victims of homicides. If Boosie can stay straight, that is music to my ears!
