Darrick WilliamsRadio One has arranged a nice transfer for Darrick “Brown” Williams from Charlotte up to The City Of Brotherly Love to take the PD reins of Urban AC WRNB (Old School 100.3) and Urban Gospel WPPZ (Praise 103.9)/Philadelphia. Both stations were most recently under the command of Elroy Smith, who left the company at the end of January. Already incredibly comfortable with both of these formats, Brown currently programs nearly identical stations for Radio One Charlotte — Urban AC WOSF (Old School 105.3) and Urban Gospel simulcast WQNC & WPZS (Praise 100.9/Praise 92.7). Radio One Philadelphia VP/GM Shawneen Thompson commented, “We are enthusiastic that Brown accepted our offer to come to Philadelphia to lead our Old School and Praise stations. Under his guidance, we are very confident that he will lead our stations into the No. 1 positions in Philadelphia.”

Brown, who begins his new Philly adventure on March 24, added, “I’m so excited for the opportunity to work with Shawneen Thompson and the staff of Philadelphia. My passion lies in the music and developing talent. I’m so grateful to have the vote of confidence from management to lead Radio One Philly to the top!” Brown will certainly hit the ground running when he arrives — his inaugural project will be to leading Praise 103.9’s Inspiration and Music Conference and Big Concert March 28-29, featuring leading gospel stars including Yolanda Adams, James Fortune, Hezekiah Walker, Tye Tribbett, Israel Houghton, Erica Campbell and more.
