EmmisEmployee morale at Emmis Communications is more than likely much higher than their closing stock price and all for the good. Emmis’ Employee “bible” has one more commandment than the “good book” with the third of Emmis’ Eleven Commandments stating: Be good to your people – get them into the game and give them a piece of the pie.” As part of the 2012 Employee Retention Plan, approximately 598 full-time employees are eligible to receive “a sizeable stock award” with an estimated values of $3,000-$5000 based on the closing price of $3.32 this past Friday. The award portion of the Employee Retention Plan is based on length of employment and excludes executive officers.  The awards vest on April 2, 2014 and will be distributed shortly thereafter. No details were revealed as to whether or not new Emmis employees resulting from the acquisition of WLIB-A and WBLS-F are eligible for the stock award. Employees have the option to hold or sell the stock. The company states, “Emmis prides itself on being a destination employer in the media and digital industries, and as such, places a high value on cultivating a culture that allows us to attract and retain the best talent in our industries.”  It’s a good time for your friendly Emmis employee to pick up the tab for lunch!
