Big Boi (born Antwan Patton) is doing big things, headlining big events (Coachella)with his Outkast partner, Andre 3000, and making big moves. The Atlanta based rapper recently announced a deal with Epic Records for his next solo record. He again joins forces with his mentor, L.A. Reid, who signed Outkast to LaFace records in 1992, Back in the early 90’s, southern hip-hop had yet to gain a modicum of the respect is has today. Big Boi would later follow his mentor Reid to Def Jam upon the demise of LaFace Records.
In addition to his new solo deal, Big Boi has joined Career Artist Management, will appear on “Game of Thrones” Mixtape and is scheduled to headline the New York Governors Ball.
In a published quote Patton says, “The album I’m not gonna rush, “I wanted to put something out before the end of the year. It depends, because me and Dre got a lot of work to do from now until the end of October. [But] you’re definitely going to get some brand new Big Boi material. Two or three singles before the fall.”
With that said, we are prepared for “big” results.
