She has all the necessary elements of a star! Avery*Sunshine, the R&B, Gospel influenced independent singer/songwriter/pianist. Her personality is magnetic; her energy is boundless; her talent is amazing. Philly born now Atlanta based, Avery*Sunshine runs the gamut from R&B to Soul and House to Gospel and Hip Hop; doing it all exceptionally. You may recall she hit the urban radio charts in 2012 with her apology anthem, “Ugly Part of Me”, which caught my attention. I saw her live for the first time her last week in LA at The Mint, a small and intimate club. Playing an electric piano, accompanied only by her guitarist Damon Jackson, Avery truly brought the sunshine and did the damn thang! She has the ability to connect. I thought she was singing to me. The 75 minute set was in a word “outstanding. ” It was honest, thoughtful, touching and powerful. To sum it up, Avery*Sunshine can sing her face off… she is a true talent. Let’s keep it 100, I was blown away! If you’re not up on Avery then you’re missing out. The hurdle for Avery, and true artists like her is can she get some traction at adult urban radio. Hopefully they’ll grow a pair and start playing real music from real talent and stop falling for the garbage that’s pushed on them from the music power structure. Everybody should love the sunshine. Avery*Sunshine’s new album, The Sunroom, is available online and in stores now on Shanachie Records, and features the single “Call My Name”. Check it out.
