Whitney and Angela BassettWith the recent announcement that Golden Globe Award-winning actress Angela Bassettis set to make her directorial debut with a new movie about entertainment icon Whitney Houston, there was great anticipation that the project would be a tasteful representation of her illustrious career.

According to a recent press release, the “Greatest Love Of All” Whitney’s biopic is slated for 2015 and chronicles her (alleged) addictions along with the relationship and tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown. Bassett says, “I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story. Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”

According to family members, namely sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston, “Whitney deserves better. Whitney is certainly worthy of more Lifetime logothan a television movie,” if Whitney were here today, this would not be happening.” Many speculate that if Whitney were here today, they would be no film, just a constant, life in a fishbowl scrutiny of the train wreck her life had become.

TMZ, the credible source for hot mess news alleges that the Houston estate is so upset over the made-for-TV film that they’re considering a lawsuit to stop production since they are clearly not on board with the project. Sources close to the Houston family claim the estate is planning its own movie for the big screen along the lines of Michael Jackson’s “This is It.” These claims can make you say “hmmmmmm” as to whether certain family members chasing a check yet again. The later stages of Whitney life were fraught with erratic behavior, cancelled commitments and horrific performances that barely lasted more than two songs.

Daughter Bobbi Kristina chimed in via a social media rant claiming she and her late mother talked many times about Bobbi Kristina being the only person Whitney would approve portraying her in film. All things considered, Bobbi Kristina may be a wise choice to portray her mother at certain stages of life. After all, she was front and center in the storm or “Hurricane Whitney and Bobby.”

While Whitney’s family may be upset about the pending biopic, can we still be upset about that hot mess of a reality show that occupied valuable TV time for the sake of a check? Moreover, it does appear that Mama Cissy Houston is simply over it and has yet to release a statement. In the words of Huggy Lowdown…..”wait for it!”

Who do you think will be cast as Whitney, Bobby, parents Cissy and John, Clive Davis, Dionne Warwick or even Ray J as well as songs and artists on the film soundtrack ?(wait for that)
