Unfortunately, was born with a rare condition called “Chiari Malformation” which lay dormant in his system until 2000 when he began to experience complications. In November 2006, after another unsuccessful surgery, he was diagnosed with a very rare disease, Syringomyelia, which has no known cure. The two conditions eventually paralyzed him from the waist down. The surgery he needs is performed only at New York’s Chiari Institute and is the sole medical means to reverse the paralysis and restore his quality of life.
Lance’s closest friends are gathering to celebrate his optimism and raise the necessary funds to assist him in covering the cost of surgery and associated medical expenses with a benefit concert starring Mint Condition, Lo-Key?, Sounds of Blackness, RL of Next, Jellybean Johnson of The Time and more, on June 22, 2014, 7pm in Minneapolis at the Cabooze. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly into Lance’s medical fund, The Lance Alexander Trust.
If you are unable to attend, please donate to the cause by mailing a check payable to The Lance Alexander Trust, C/O MidAmerica Talent, P.O. Box 20611, Minneapolis, MN 55431. Can you dig it?…..I knew that you could. Will somebody please call Jimmy and Terry, so they can gas up the Flyte Time Express, pick up Morris Day, Jerome and his mirror to deliver a check?
