Wendy Williams Jun05

Wendy Williams has become quite the accomplished author.

Yup, take your time. Let it process for a minute. Are you done scratching your head? Good. Let’s continue.

She recently released her sixth book, “Ask Wendy,” named after the popular advice segment seen on her syndicated talk show. Wendy’s (ahem) dearth of wisdom apparently has no bounds. On the tube, she tackles various topics for women, including style, body image, office etiquette, sex–you know…the important stuff.

During an interview with theGrio, Williams opened up about her personal struggle with weight loss, a topic she also covers in her book.

“I could lie to you and tell you that I’m fine with the way that I am right now, but the fact is my parents have done a number on me,” Williams confessed. “And that number will forever have me pinching an inch, checking in the mirror and obsessing over calories for the rest of my life… I’ve been on a diet every single day of my life.”

Williams has been deemed by the media (perhaps foolishly) as “the queen of daytime talk.” And although she says Oprah Winfrey didn’t inspire her to become a talk show host, she acknowledges Winfrey’s accomplishments in front and behind the camera.

“Hats off to all the women and men who did it before me,” Williams said. “Especially Oprah, because she was the first one to grab the brass ring and not just take ownership of her show, but turn everything she is into what culminates into a billion dollar business, which is fantastic. But I just want my fair slice of the pie here on daytime.”

“Ask Wendy” is now available in retail stores nationwide.
