Earlier this month, the 28 year old appeared on the “Oprah Where Are They Now?” show, where she talked about being labeled. Symone stated she didn’t want to be labeled as gay, but simply as a person who loves humans. She also said she was tired of being labeled as an African-American. She stated she’s an American… NOT an African-American.” Those comments sparked outrage from critics and fans on social media. According to The YBF, the child star attempted to clear up her comments issuing a statement : “I never said I wasn’t black… I want to make that very clear. I said, I am not African-American. I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people. I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America.” Raven’s clarification didn’t help, as a result more folks continued to bully her online.
