BET announced the appointment of Stephen Hill as its new President of Programming.  Hill fills the position in place of his predecessor Loretha Jones.  Jones exited the President of Original Programming position in September, after six years in service. She is noted for spearheading the network’s recent moves into original scripted programming.  Reasons for her departure were not provided.  Hill comes to his “newly created position” after his recent stint as President of Music Programming & Specials at BET. The Brown University graduate’s new duties include overseeing original programming, music programming and specials as well as the BET News teams responsible for creating, developing, and producing programming across BET.  Prior to serving as president of programming, Hill was involved  in the successful launch of BET’s hit show “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” in addition to working as Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming, before being promoted to President of Music Programming & Specials.
