ChubbChubb Rock, former National Merit Scholar and Brown University pre-med student may be one on a short list of successful college dropouts in radio today. This student of radio has clearly become a sponge of knowledge, information and vision. Following the path laid by Joyner and Harvey when it comes to multi-tasking and branding, Chubb Rock is on the path to rule in radio.

This new era “fly jock” is spreading his wings like an “A-330.” The Chubb Rock Morning Show (6am-9am) recently debuted on Flinn Broadcasting stations WIVG and WOXF. He’s also midday host on Radio One/Philadelphia’s WRNB and afternoon drive host on Radio One/Atlanta’s WAJM. Chubb’s Superadio syndicated classic hip-hop show “Diggin’ In The Crates” is currently   airing weekends on 21 radio outlets nationwide and growing. Rock rules the airwaves every Saturday evening in the ATL as host of the hugely popular “Authentic Caribbean.”

Chubb said, “I was interested in segueing to morning drive but was told there was no room. My Caribbean work ethic said “not so,” and I set out to find an alternative way in that door. I started my syndicated weekend show, which I did on my own to lay the foundation to expand my brand. My Atlanta PD, Derrick Harper and afternoon drive co-host Si-Man (Baby) have been immensely supportive of my vision. I’m open to eventually syndicate afternoon drive as well. I am testing my mom’s theory that if you put in the work, you get the reward.”

With all of his time spent behind the mic of local and national airwaves, he still finds time to perform in concert, continues to work with Wounded Warriors Project, raise AIDS awareness among men of color along with speaking to youth in high schools and detention centers. Now I ask you….who is the hardest working man in radio???? (No wonder he can usually be found in Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport!)
