Nielsen reports that the BET Awards 2015 was the most popular cable TV show in social media, based on the special’s Twitter TV ratings. An audience of nine million users generated more than seven million tweets from more than 900,000 unique authors. 

The 15th anniversary airing of the BET Awards featured hosts Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross from ABC’s “Black-ish,” performers Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown, and the cast of Fox network’s “Empire.”

Special tributes were given to Smokey Robinson for the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Janet Jackson who received the Ultimate Icon Award.
