When PALM first launch back in March, we introduced you to an emcee out of San Francisco under the name RVMIRXZ (pronounced Ramirez). After listening to his tape Pharaohs, we were enticed by his mixture of Houston and Memphis inspired flows and anime estetic. He even stopped by a chopped it up with us in an interview which you can check out here: https://theurbanbuzz.com/?p=10125.

This year RVMIRXZ has released a number of solo and collaborative projects including a free EP with G*59 Records label-mates $uicideBoy$. His highly anticipated mixtape Blood Diamonds is perhaps his best project yet. The difference is inĀ  the west coast sound RVMIRXZ went after. This is especially prevalent on the song “Funked out Pool Party” produced by Genshin. It was nice to see Big Los (responsible for Chris Travis’ “Crunch Time”) on the production staff. Blood Diamonds has a lot more to offer on songs like “At the Park” featuring Aleman and produced by Madlib, plus “Space Age Pimpin” featuring Fukkit, “We Stunttin” featuring Dretti Franks, “Price You Gotta Pay,” and “UGK”. We can’t review this mixtape without highlighting the old school throwback “Trips in the Deloreon” which is a rendition of Tom tom Club’s “Genius of Love.”

Overall this is a great project from RVMIRXZ and quite possibly his best yet. We’re ready for RVMIRXZ to collaborate with a big named artist and gain some major exposure. Blood Diamonds is 4/5 palms!
