She Khan and She Did

Chaka Khan returns to her hometown Chicago this weekend for ceremony honoring her with her own street, Chaka Khan Way. This event is one on a long list commemorating Chaka’s 40^th anniversary as an entertainer along with the release of her new project “The iKhan Project.”

Many have forgotten the Trayvon Martin tribute song, “Super Life” released shortly after his murder that features Eric Benet, Kelly Price and Kenny Lattimore with cameos from Courtney B. Vance, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine and a host of actors, activists and entertainers.

In recent interview Chaka said, “Well the trial, number one was a travesty. Racism is still very much alive and well in this country. It has gone to more of a cerebral state. But it’s alive and well. The new slavery is keeping black men in jail. I am boycotting Florida. I had a booking there last week and I cancelled it. But if any tribute comes up I’ll do it. Absolutely.

Now that’s what I’m talking about.  Boycott Florida…..it’s a movement and it’s growing!
