Jack GibsonJill Gibson -Bell, daughter of the late radio legend Jack “The Rapper” Gibson has taken the phrase “stand your ground“ to another level.  She stood her ground in state and federal court against the New Jack the Rapper Convention organizers Steve Riley and Billy D. “Bad Axx” Foster aka John Hobby (an alleged pseudonym of some type) and WON!! They may well attempt to appeal the judge’s decision, however, wrong is wrong.

Actual and punitive damages and other fees they have been ordered to pay far exceed the amount they would have paid Ms. Gibson-Bell had they honored the original agreement with her and conducted business in an ethical and honorable fashion. The judge deemed their profits from at least two “New Jack The Rapper” conventions as profits by reason of unlawful acts.  Court documents also specify one reason the judge tripled the amount awarded to Ms. Gibson-Bell is their (Riley/Foster/Hobbs) infringement on her late father’s name (Can you say motion denied!!)

Riley and Foster, both liable in this case continue to have other events with a laundry list of names such as Ed Hardy Models, Started From The Bottom Tour, New Jack 360 , Faces Music Business , Real Talk Music Forum and so on that apparently generate income. To date, the defendants have ignored court documents and not paid Gibson-Bell one dime but their continued failure to comply with the judge’s ruling could result in jail time.

Gibson-Bell says ”my daddy came to me and told me not to give up. Even now when he talks to me, I listen!”

Shout out to Ms. Gibson-Bell for her tenacity and her powerhouse industry attorneys Alan Clarke and Kendall Minter.  As the elders used to say “ain’t no fun, when the rabbit’s got the gun” so do the right thing and P.T.L.—Pay The Lady!
