t-i-smilesGrammy® winning rapper T.I. (King of The South) is flexing his acting chops again, joining VH1’s hip-hop movie turned drama series The Breaks in a recurring role as powerful attorney Paul Anders. According to VH1, T. I’s character, Paul Anders, will defend Wood Harris’ character Barry Fouray after a public scandal. Given his encounters with law and all of the legal fees he’s paid over the years, the role of an attorney should be natural for him. Combine that with the fact that he’s actually a decent actor, this role is easily a grand slam!!

T.I, has a lengthy list of acting credits on the big and small screen (ATL, Takers, Ant Man, House of Lies, T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle) He joins a cast that includes Wood Harris (The Wire), Mack Wilds (90210), Antoine Harris (Ballers), and Sinqua Walls (Power) as well as recurring players Teyana Taylor and Gloria Reuben. Grammy® winner DJ Premier will continue to serve as executive music producer.

The series inspired by journalist Dean Charnas’ narrative history of the hip-hop business The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop aired as an original film on VH1 in January and will return in January 2017.

With that said, will Netflix attempt to expand its hip hop (mini) series The Get Down or has it gone down to the dust since Donald Glover’s Atlanta became the new must see TV show??
