NO PANTY – Westiside Highway Story

Now I know PALM is a little late to the party which is New York supergroup NO PANTY, but i’ts all good! NO PANTY is a trio composed of Joell Ortiz, Bodega Bamz, and Nitty Scott. These three emcees all of Puerto Rican decent and do some serious damage on their 2016 project Westside Highway Story.

There’s many components to point out which make what NO PANTY does on Westside Highway Story a one of a kind project. All three of these lyricist come from a different fan base. Joell Ortiz, is a member of Slaughterhouse alongside Royce Da 5’9, Crooked I, and Joe Budden. Although I’m not too into Slaughterhouse’s music, I respect them for all being hip-hop greats and keeping the backpack-core sound alive. Bodega Bamz came on the scene around 2011, working closely with A$AP Mob and Flatbush Zombies. In 2016, he’s stuck to his underground roots and collaborated with the likes of Pouya and even made an appearance on the hit No Jumper podcast. Nitty Scott, (whom prior to stumbling on NO PANTY, I was unfamiliar with) has an incredible story, gorgeous looks, and hard hitting bars to match. Westside Highway Story is entirely produced by Salaam Remi, who’s prior work includes jams with Nas, The Fugees, Amy Weinhouse, and many more. The beats on here combine traditional Latin music with East coast hip-hop and mix them together beautifully. I find myself listening to this project over and over again from start to finish.
