KBLX-San Francisco has been recognized for their contributions to black music and artists by being the first radio station inducted into the Bay Area Black Music Hall of Fame. The award presentation will take place at the annual Bay Area Black Music Awards on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Oakland, California.

KBLX Operations Manager/Program Director, Elroy Smith said, “I am humbled that KBLX is being recognized with this prestigious honor. It is always heartwarming to be acknowledged for the hard work and dedication we exhibit day in and day out.”

The Black Music Association & Academy of America is proud to announce that you have been selected to be the first ever Radio Station/Company to become an Official Inductee into the Black Music Hall Of Fame for your immeasurable contributions to Black Music and the artists who perform music. With this Honor you will be among the “best of the best” entertainers in the world during the annual Bay Area Black Music Awards to be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 at 55 Harrison Street in Jack London Square from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. The Induction Ceremonies will take place from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
With so many incredible entertainers who deserve to have a light shined on their excellence, we are proud of your legacy. You have left indelible contributions to music with your talent and dedication to your art. Music is a form of communication that chronicles the world’s timetable by words, and sounds. This music had made you one of the most incredible contributors to our nation’s growth and has brought people enjoyment with meaning by your life changing words of wisdom, thought and fun. You make us dance, you make us think reflect, you make us happy. You are truly an Icon and Hall of Fame honoree.
You will be a part of this historic celebration of greatness as a recognized Black Music Honoree whose dedication and innovation is making it possible for Black music opportunities to continue to expand for the sake of music in its entirety.
Each year the BMA presents this great ceremony to honor and recognize those musicians, singers, composers and entertainers who are incredible artists. The BMA has established programs such as the “Tools N Talent,” program; the “Mentor Me” program; our “Financial Literacy Camp;” and the Black Music Museum Hall of Fame. We currently have BMA Chapters in Chicago, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Washington, D.C., and the Bay Area where major awards shows are held each year since 2000.
You are now part of an amazing assemblage of honorees and nominees who have been recognized by the BMA. We have welcomed major artists like the Temptations, Nancy Wilson, The Whispers, Joyce Cooling, Earth Wind & Fire, Roy Ayers, The Platters, The Jacksons, Howard Hewett, Evelyn Champagne King, George Clinton, and many, many more.
