Take Yourself and a Loved One to the Doctor Day

KTCX Radio in Beaumont is gearing up for their 11th Annual Health Fair and the “Take Yourself and a Loved One to the Doctor” Day this weekend. Take A Loved One to the Doctor is a targeted campaign to raise health awareness in the Black community. This initiative launched in 2002 between the Tom Joyner Morning Show and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Administration. Since then, Joyner along with the help of Black radio continues to encourage listeners to be proactive about their health by making appointments for themselves and a loved one to visit health professionals.
Because of the impact of the program, “Take Yourself and a Loved One to the Doctor,” has grown form a one day event to a year-long health awareness campaign. The KTCX event will feature Beaumont County Commissioner “Bo” Alfred with health screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol hearing and free doctor exams.
