Last September we turned you on to the R&B/soul outfit known as Agency. Fast forward to now little is known about this artist or group but what we do know is that their February 2018 album Philosophies is something a true R&B lover needs to hear.

Occupying the same lane as BJ the Chicago Kid and Musiq Soulchild, Agency strives for a classic on this fourth studio album. This time around a more playful side of themselves is explored, thus crating this album which focuses on life, love, and relationships, while still maintaining their signature funk, soul, pop, and jazz sound. Philosophies is complete with six remix and a cover of “Spooky” made popular by Atlanta Rhythm Section.

There is a spectacular flute interlude on “I Can’t Think of Anything But You.” I like the eccentric dance vibes on “Joyride” along with the funky drums on “Ripe (Feel It).” The raw instrumentation on all the songs is really what characterizes Agency’s sound. Especially with the Horns on Help Me Find My Way Back Home.

Although Agency as an artist(s) seems quite mysterious, the sound on Philosophies is an improvement from Resist.
