Al Payne has Bounced out of the D

Al Payne has vacated his position as PD of Beasley Classic Hip Hop WMGC (105.1 The Bounce)/Detroit. Payne said, “It has been an amazing journey since 2016 and I thank the company for allowing me to assemble one of the greatest staffs I’ve ever worked with. Today starts a new chapter and I look forward to meeting new people and assisting new brands with meeting their ratings and revenue goals. Payne was hired as the inaugural PD of The Bounce in September 2016, three months after its launch. Before that he was Director of Urban Programming for Alpha Media Classic Hip Hop WGHL (Old School 105.1), Urban WGZB (B-96.5) and Urban AC WMJM (Magic 101.3)/Louisville.

Payne’s lengthy career also includes an 11-year run with Radio One, the last six as OM of the company’s Baltimore cluster. Payne joined Radio One in 2004 and served in a variety of programming roles, including OM in Richmond, Detroit, The Russ Parr Morning Show and WKYS/Washington. His journey has also taken him to Raleigh, Greensboro, Dallas and Detroit.
