Isn’t it incredible when you discover a band on accident? I first became aware of Brooklyn based experimental Soul Band triathalon when the automatic play feature on Spotify played their song “South Side” after listening to “Southsiders” by Atmosphere. Those smooth melodic vibes drew me back for seconds when I discovered their third album Online.

This lo-fi glory will evaporate you into another galaxy. Put Toro Y Moi and The Internet into a blender and the product is Triathalon. Online is filled with gems from start to finish but the fourth track “Hard to Move” has the hardest tempo switch from groovy to a trap-bass heavy hook. I was digging the breakbeat vibes on “Bad Mood” as much as the psychedelic blunted vibe on “Deep End.”

Overall I have nothing but great expectations for what Triathalon will continue to do from here on out. With tour dates alongside Cuco, they have a potential to be another driving force in the lo-fi experimental scene.
