Radio Legend Johnny Morris Dies of Cancer Kevin Fleming September 3, 2018 Entertainment, Radio Buzz Beloved radio engineer and broadcaster, Johnny Morris died over the weekend after a long battle with cancer. He was well respected in the industry, having worked at KSOL-San Francisco, KDIA-Oakland, and KGFJ, KUTE, KACE, KJLH, KTYM, KKBT/KRBV all in Los Angeles. He and his daughter, Felicia “Poetess” Morris had started Morris Media Studios, an internet radio and podcast studio located in the heart of the Crenshaw community, allowing up and coming broadcasters the opportunity to host their own radio shows. For the past couple of years, she’s been running the business and continuing the Morris legacy of providing high quality production services. Johnny was a trailblazer and a mentor to countless broadcasters. John and I have been friends since the early 80’s. We worked together at KGFJ, KACE and KKBT/KRBV. John also worked with James Brown, Sly Stone, Frankie Crocker, Tavis Smiley, and built the Roscoe’s Media Center Studios. Johnny Morris knew more about radio and engineering than anybody I know. John is already being missed. Funeral services: Related
