Marvel’s Luke Cage shown the door at Netflix

Netflix and Marvel announced on Friday that Luke Cage, set in Harlem and helmed by Cheo Hodari Coker (along with musical direction by Raphael Saadiq, Adrian Younge, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad), will be no more.

“Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season,” read a joint statement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”
