Frank, Novah and JR

As previously reported Entercom Urban WVEE-Atlanta’s V-103 had parted company with two-thirds of Frank and Wanda In The Morning — co-host Wanda Smith and entertainment reporter Miss Sophia have exited. Today the company announced their successors — Jade Novah and JR will plug in across from host Frank Ski (left), weekdays from 6-10am, starting January 22. Novah and JR will also create content for V-103’s digital platforms.

Novah (center) is a singer, songwriter and actress who has garnered over 55 million views for her covers, skits and original music. She has also done background vocals for Rihanna, Eminem, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga. In 2018 Novah served as vocal producer and mentor on Fox’s The Four: Battle for Stardom, and released her debut album, All Blue. JR (right) was most recently an air personality at sister WFAN/New York. He built JRSportBrief into the most popular sports blog on YouTube before transitioning to mainstream broadcast roles. He has also worked for NBC Nonstop TV, CNN Headline News and Bleacher Report

“With Frank Ski, an accomplished radio pro with an established presence in Atlanta, and the addition of Jade Novah and JR to the morning lineup, V-103 is set to expand its influence as Atlanta’s Urban Leader,” said Rick Caffey, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Atlanta. “In addition to mornings on-air, the show will be an integral part of V-103’s digital content initiative. We look forward to celebrating the city’s urban culture and to providing our listeners with fresh, engaging content on all the platforms we know they love.”

Novah said, “I look forward to joining the team at V-103 and kicking off 2019 by hitting the ground running. Atlanta is where I started my career as a solo artist and content creator and I’m excited to come back to the city to represent the voice of a free-thinking generation.” JR added, “I’m honored for the opportunity to continue working with Entercom and to get to know the Atlanta community. I look forward to getting to know the city’s unique culture — from the arts to sports and everything in between.”

Fallout:

Wanda SmithEntercom Urban WVEE (V103)/Atlanta has parted company with two-thirds of Frank and Wanda In The Morning — co-host Wanda Smith (left) and entertainment reporter Miss Sophia (right) have reportedly been let go, leaving market fixture Frank Ski flying solo.
The original Frank and Wanda Morning Show aired on V103 from 1998 until December 2012. Ski returned to V103 last February, succeeding Ryan Cameron. Smith has been a mainstay at V103 for more than two decades with just a single year off in 2013. A comedienne by trade, she has provided Ski with wisecracks and ebullience. She was also part of Ryan Cameron‘s show for most of his morning run until he chose to leave V103 last January, opening the door for Ski’s full-time return.
Miss Sophia (real name: Joe Taylor) was the first drag queen to ever have a regular slot on a morning radio show in Atlanta. She was on the show for four years providing entertainment news from 2006 to 2010. She came back last year to do the same thing.
