TLC-Left Eye, Chilli and T-Boz

I had a blast watching the TLC Biopic! It was bitter sweet! It brought back memories having served as Vice President of P.T. Entertainment —Pebbles management company– when she signed TLC. I was there when it all went down BUT you won’t hear any juicy gossip from me!
The biopic was a rating hit for VH1.It raked in a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.5 million viewers tuned into the Monday night premiere. The movie also sparked a jump in sales for TLC downloads. The new soundtrack for the film “20” rose from No. 43 to No. 5 on iTunes.

Congrats to Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, executive producers on the film, who — are currently working on a new project after releasing their greatest hits collection. The actresses who played the trio– KeKe Palmer (“Akeela & The Bee”) as “Chilli” , Lil Mama (“America’s Best Dance Crew”) as “Left Eye, and Drew Sidora (“Step Up,” “The Game”) as “T-Boz” did a great job conveying their personality. Despite some of her antic, Left Eye was a sweet soul. I remember her coming over to my nephew’s party and bring gifts. She loved kids. T-Boz—always reminded me of myself—street savvy and business smarts; and Chilli— could dance her butt off! She was the hot one!!

The ATL was bombing during the early 90s and those were the “good old days”. LaFace had moved their headquarters to Atlanta and Jermaine Dupre and Dallas Austin were the hot producers. Whitney was on fire and it was a great time to in the industry. L.A. Reid gave young producers a chance to work and be part of something BIG! He helped put ATL on the map. As for me, after a year in management, I returned to the record side—it’s in my blood!
