Former Warner Music Group Recorded Music chief Lyor Cohen has been laying low since exiting the company a little over a year ago and now we know why!! Cohen has partnered with former Warner Music executives Todd Moscowitz and Kevin Liles along with other investors to fund his new music-based entertainment company which is rumored to be distributed through Atlantic Records. This effort also includes financial backing from Google as an additional partner, thereby allowing them more direct influence on the entertainment business. The goal of this massive venture is to build an innovative artist development and label business from the ground up reminiscent of Motown. The new business will have the benefit of access to the marketing and distribution infrastructure of a major label but the cost structure and flexibility of an indie label.
